  • A Procurement Engineer plays a critical role in sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials, equipment, and services for engineering and construction projects. Their primary focus is on ensuring that the organization receives the best value for money while maintaining quality and meeting project timelines.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Supplier Identification and Selection:
    Research and identify potential suppliers based on project specifications and requirements.
    Evaluate supplier proposals, quotes, and bids to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
    Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure reliable and cost-effective sources of materials and equipment.
  • Procurement Strategy:
    Collaborate with project managers and engineers to determine material requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects.
    Develop procurement strategies to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
    Optimize cost efficiency by negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Contract Management:
    Prepare and manage procurement contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions align with organizational objectives.
    Monitor contract performance, ensuring that suppliers adhere to agreed-upon terms, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
    Handle contract amendments and resolve disputes or issues that arise with suppliers.
  • Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
    Conduct cost analysis to compare supplier pricing and overall cost-effectiveness.
    Work with the finance and project management teams to ensure that procurement stays within budget limits.
    Regularly update procurement and project budgets to reflect changes in costs or material needs.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensure that purchased materials and equipment meet required quality standards and technical specifications.
    Conduct vendor assessments and site visits as necessary to validate supplier capabilities and product quality.
    Collaborate with the quality control team to manage any non-conformances or defects.
  • Logistics and Delivery Management:
    Oversee the logistics of material delivery to ensure that supplies arrive on time and in the correct quantities.
    Manage transportation arrangements and work with logistics partners to avoid delays in project schedules.
    Ensure proper documentation and compliance with customs regulations for international purchases.
  • Risk Management:
    Identify potential risks related to supplier reliability, market volatility, and material availability.
    Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions and manage supplier risk.
