Mohali/Kapurthala, Punjab – May 2026 : Hartek Group has announced the commissioning of a first-of-its-kind 5 MW DC agrivoltaic solar power plant in Kapurthala, marking one of Punjab’s most advanced integrations of renewable energy generation with sustainable agricultural land use. This landmark project positions Hartek at the forefront of agrivoltaic innovation in India, demonstrating how clean energy, climate resilience, and land optimisation can be achieved simultaneously.
Spread across 11 acres of farmland, the project features N-Type TopCon half-cut bifacial modules supported by a central inverter architecture technology typically deployed in high-performance utility-scale solar parks. With 8,586 modules installed, the plant will generate 7,500 MWh of green electricity annually, eliminating over 7,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. By combining agricultural capability with superior solar productivity, the site stands as a model for future-ready energy infrastructure in the country.
What makes this installation truly exceptional is its next-generation agrivoltaic design. Elevated structures create optimised micro-climates for soil and vegetation, supporting better water retention and reducing heat stress; critical in Punjab’s evolving climate conditions. AI-enabled monitoring ensures the ideal balance between solar output and crop-friendly light exposure, transforming the land into a multi-output asset that advances both ecological and energy objectives.
Hartek delivered the entire project as a comprehensive EPC partner, overseeing engineering, procurement, construction, and end-to-end operations and maintenance. The team addressed complex challenges involving soil behavior, water management, biodiversity considerations, and light distribution; ensuring that the installation performs strongly as both a renewable energy asset and a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
Commenting on the milestone, Simarpreet Singh, CEO & ED – Hartek Group stated, “This installation is far more than a solar project; it is a demonstration of how India can scale renewable energy without compromising agricultural value. Agrivoltaics represents a transformative pathway for land use efficiency and climate adaptation. Hartek is proud to pioneer this model in Punjab, setting a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure.”
With this development, Hartek reinforces its leadership in India’s renewable energy landscape, delivering projects that combine engineering excellence with long-term environmental responsibility.
